"Catching the Light - Mood and Atmosphere with Fresh Eyes"

This quest for perfection can bring with it fear of making mistakes and can result in a style which can seem inhibited.

In this workshop we will concentrate on freedom and spontaneity to add elements of semi abstraction, but still keep some association with reality to produce fresh and exciting work flooded with light and energy.

Do you want to bring a looser and more painterly feel to your work loaded with juicy colour which is flooded with light? Then join me and I will share some of my working methods concentrating on painting landscapes, seascapes, figures and still life subjects that delight you and excite the viewer.

Using our sketches and thumbnails along with our reference material we can bring some fresh colour and a more painterly feel to our work.

We will learn how to simplify our approach to achieve exciting impressionistic paintings that have a strong design with bold colour and expressive marks that use direct strokes on a textured surface to emphasise 'brushwork'.

We will look at the Quality of Light, the Colour of Light and the Direction of Light.

Tony's workshops are for those willing to go through the door marked 'leaving your comfort zone' and enter a world of exciting and expressive pastel application!

Each day will start with a demonstration with heaps of challenges and loads of individual help at the easel.
