Sherese Mesko

I was always interested in drawing and enjoyed art classes in school, but as with many of us, life got in the way. I worked as a surgical nurse for over thirty years, and raised one daughter. So I have only been seriously pursuing art since 2005. I began with colored pencil as it was an extension of drawing, and really liked the layering of color and detail. But I continued to explore and stumbled through many mediums before finding my true passion. Pastels! I work almost exclusively in pastels now, but continue to feel the need to just draw. Even at my age, I am still a work in progress.
Although I’ve had no formal art education, I have taken many classes and workshops. My biggest influence in colored pencil came from the teachings of Nan Klein, in The Villages, Florida, and in pastel, the technique of painting in values with Maggie Price and Margaret Dyer.
